Contact Information
I am an ocean-lover. The ocean has many faces - I paint its portraits. Each tells a story & sometimes our souls listen. These connections are what gives me great joy as the artist. I paint while listening to inspirational music -this method helps me focus and pray about who the piece may be providing a connection: peace, healing, an outlet for a grieving heart, hope for someone who is lost or numb, or the exhilaration of adventure.
I come from a family of ocean-lovers, particularly my parents as yachties who took us sailing on the open ocean from since I was 3 years old. And so the ocean has become a source of inspiration and musings for me. I am a plant-lover too. I study & draw native botanicals & am quite obsessed with their details. I have been learning about Banksias & I am quite biased toward choosing them over other plants to draw!

I am interested in learning about their threatened habitats in Western Australia, and would like to explore this through my art production. I take inspiration from my late grandmother, Ellaphie Ward-Hilhorst, who made significant contributions to Botanical Art in South Africa through her artworks.
