Kay has a background in creative performing arts, from costume and set design to performing and stage managing which lends itself to her current work with Powertex.
The artist sources materials to create armatures, and work with fabric, colour and texture. All these things give Kay the opportunity to explore and experiment and at times improvise through processes and procedures using the Powertex range of materials. What Kay enjoys most is not being limited by the materials as they allow her a lot of scope to create beyond her imagination; being able to cultivate an idea and to see it morph in another direction as she continually explores and pushes the boundaries with these materials. |

She often has no expectation of what will shape up as she goes along, however she has a standard of expectation for herself and an embodied way of knowing when she has reached a certain point and the artist knows she can push her limits further.
With another hat on, her work as a natural therapist lends itself to helping clients work through emotions and trauma through hands on therapy. Kay has clients wishing to explore art as a medium to help further the process of healing through releasing their expressions through art.
The artists doesn't see herself as an art therapist, more as a teacher of processes and providing guidance to those in need. She finds most adults left to their own devices know what they want to create. Kay has put herself to the test in processing emotional upset through creating an art experience for herself. It is whole heartedly rewarding to create an art piece to release the emotion and trapped trauma that exists within the body, leaving the emotional body free from trauma.
