Trevor's parents gifted him with an enduring connection to nature due to their love of the great outdoors and the many adventures they encountered in Western Australia’s amazing environment. This
attachment Trevor experienced in his early years has been the catalyst for his artistic creativity. He is essentially a self-taught artist. In early childhood Trevor discovered the incredible “x-ray” paintings of the Aboriginal artists from Arnhem Land which ignited his interest in tribal cultures worldwide. The intimate connection of primitive inhabitants with their natural environment which generates enchanting stories of creation, mythology and symbolic totemism is so inspiring. |

Through Trevor's medium of acrylic paints, he has had a tendency for an intricate, detailed approach, yet in some pieces, liberated by using broader, quicker brushstrokes, a style emerges that demands further attention. The artist doesn't depict objective reality in his paintings, rather drawing on his subjective emotions using distortion, exaggeration, primitivism and the use of vibrant colours to achieve expressive intensity.

emerge from Western Australia’s historical past.
